The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has unveiled its timetable for the 2026 primary elections, fixing May 25, 2026, for its presidential primary and setting the cost of its nomination form at N100 million.
In a statement issued by the party’s spokesman, Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC said the schedule outlines procedures and requirements for candidate nominations ahead of the 2027 general elections, reaffirming its commitment to internal democracy, orderliness, and compliance with the Electoral Act.
According to the timetable, the process commenced with the sale of application forms from April 1 to May 4, 2026. Nomination forms are to be sold between May 5 and May 10, while submission of completed forms will take place from May 11 to May 13.
The party disclosed that screening of aspirants is scheduled for May 14 and May 15, with results to be released on May 17.
Appeals from the screening exercise will be entertained between May 18 and May 19, while the final list of cleared aspirants will be published on May 20.
Primary elections for State Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives, and Senate seats are set to hold simultaneously at the ward level on May 21. Governorship primaries will follow on May 22, while the presidential primary is slated for May 25.
The timetable also includes a meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee on May 26 and a Special National Convention on May 27, during which candidates will be ratified.
On nomination fees, the ADC approved N100 million for presidential aspirants, N50 million for governorship, N20 million for Senate, N10 million for House of Representatives, and N3 million for State House of Assembly seats.
The party further announced a 50 percent discount for youths and a 25 percent reduction for women and persons with disabilities.
ADC urged aspirants, members, and stakeholders to adhere strictly to the guidelines, reiterating its resolve to provide a credible platform for competent and accountable leadership in the 2027 elections.
