DHQ Conducts Media Tour to Highlight Gains of Operation Hadin Kai in North-East

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ), through the Directorate of Defence Media Operations (DDMO), has organised a high-level media assessment tour of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), to showcase operational achievements and evaluate the sustainability of peace and development in stabilised communities.
Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer at the Headquarters of Operation Hadin Kai, said the initiative forms part of ongoing efforts by the military to enhance transparency and strengthen public confidence in counter-insurgency operations.
The three-day tour brought together senior defence correspondents and media professionals, who were given the opportunity to independently assess military operations, civil-military relations and post-conflict stabilisation efforts within the theatre of operations.
Welcoming the delegation at the Theatre Headquarters in Maiduguri, the Theatre Commander, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, reaffirmed the Armed Forces of Nigeria’s commitment to a comprehensive counter-insurgency strategy with a strong focus on non-kinetic operations. He highlighted the strategic vision of the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Olufemi Oluyede, noting his emphasis on inclusive, people-centred operations and media engagement.
Major General Abubakar stressed the importance of credible and responsible journalism in asymmetric warfare, urging the media to support national security through balanced and verified reporting. He added that timely dissemination of accurate information remains critical in the current security landscape.
The Theatre Commander also briefed journalists on significant operational successes across several communities, attributing improved security to sustained military pressure. According to him, these gains have led to the revival of economic activities, better protection of vulnerable populations and a safer environment for humanitarian operations.
Earlier, the team leader, Group Captain Ibrahim Bukar, commended the CDS for promoting transparency, an open-door policy and strong civil-military-media relations, describing strategic communication as a force multiplier in modern warfare. He also praised the troops of Operation Hadin Kai for their resilience and sacrifices, while acknowledging the leadership of the Theatre Commander.
During the tour, the media delegation visited key operational facilities, including the Joint Investigation Centre, Forward Operating Base (FOB) Tunkushe and FOB Molai, where they conducted on-the-spot assessments of activities.
The visit concluded with the presentation of souvenirs and a group photograph, underscoring the military’s commitment to accountability, transparency and sustained public engagement.
