The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) is set to convene a Regional Summit on Integration and Investment, tentatively scheduled for April 2026.
In preparation, the Vice-President of the ECOWAS Commission, Mrs Damtien Tchintchibidja, on Thursday held a coordination meeting in Abuja to harmonise institutional roles, timelines and implementation modalities ahead of the summit.
The meeting is part of broader efforts to reinvigorate ECOWAS’ economic integration agenda by strengthening regional cooperation and boosting investment across member states.
Proposed by the President of Sierra Leone, Julius Maada Bio, who also chairs the Authority of ECOWAS Heads of State and Government, the summit will bring together government officials, business leaders, investors and development partners.
Discussions are expected to focus on deepening regional integration through key growth sectors, including energy trade, strategic minerals, agribusiness and digital transformation, in line with ECOWAS’ founding vision of economic cooperation and shared prosperity.
