The Vice-President of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Commission, Damtien Tchintchibidja, led a high-level delegation to Lomé, Togo, on Tuesday, 3 March 2026, to discuss progress toward the operationalisation of the country’s National Early Warning Mechanism.
During the visit, the ECOWAS delegation met with the Togolese Minister of Security and Civil Protection, Calixte Batossie Madjoulba, to review preparations for the launch of the National Coordination Centre for the Early Warning Response Mechanism (CNCMR).
The delegation included ECOWAS Resident Representative in Togo, Deweh Emily Gray, Togo’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Léné Dimban, as well as senior officials from the Commission’s Early Warning Directorate.
Discussions focused on progress made in establishing the administrative, institutional and technical frameworks required for the centre to become fully operational. Once launched, the CNCMR is expected to serve as Togo’s national interface with the ECOWAS regional early warning system, aimed at strengthening conflict prevention and rapid response mechanisms across West Africa.
