IGP Disu Decorates 30 Senior Officers, Charges Them on Discipline


The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has decorated 30 senior officers recently promoted to the ranks of Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) and Commissioners of Police (CPs).
The ceremony, held at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall in Abuja, follows the promotion of 84 senior officers, including 54 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) and Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs).
Addressing the officers, the IGP described the promotions as recognition of merit, discipline, and capacity, noting that they also represent a strategic move to strengthen leadership within the Force. He urged the newly decorated officers to uphold professionalism and enforce zero tolerance for indiscipline, corruption, and negligence in their commands.
Reiterating his vision for a more responsive police system, Disu stressed the importance of people-oriented policing, respect for human rights, and sustained community engagement. He also announced that all newly promoted AIGs will participate in a mandatory Strategic Leadership Retreat beginning March 24, 2026, in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme, aimed at enhancing leadership and modern policing standards.
Among those elevated to the rank of AIG are Christopher Ado Emmanuel, Joseph Eribo, Miller Gajere Dantawaye, Henry Ifeanyi Uche, Olanrewaju Peter Ogunlowo, Mohammed Dahiru, Dankombo Faling Morris, Bello Shehu, Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba, Ahmed Musa, Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, Simeon Udofia Akpanudom, and Haruna Olufemi.
Also decorated were several Commissioners of Police, including Abdulrahim Audu Shaibu, Sarah Idowu Ehindero, and Rebecca Uchenna Okereke.
Dignitaries at the event included former Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege; former First Lady, Patience Jonathan; retired IGP Sunday Ehindero; and former Imo State Deputy Governor, Placid Njoku, among others.
