Nigeria and Angola have signed a bilateral agreement to waive visa requirements for holders of diplomatic and official passports, in a move aimed at easing official engagements between both countries.
The agreement was signed on Sunday, February 15, 2026, on the sidelines of the 39th Ordinary Session of the African Union in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, signed on behalf of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, while Angola’s Minister of External Relations, Ambassador Tete António, signed for the Republic of Angola.
The visa waiver is expected to remove administrative barriers for diplomats and government officials, thereby facilitating smoother official interactions between the two countries.
Officials said the development aligns with broader continental efforts to promote mobility, strengthen institutional cooperation, and advance Africa’s integration agenda.
The statement was issued by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa.
