The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja on Wednesday hosted a delegation from Burundi’s Senior Command and Staff College as part of a study visit aimed at enhancing cooperation and regional partnerships between both countries.
Receiving the delegation on behalf of the Permanent Secretary, Director of Policy, Research and Strategy, Ambassador Musa Sani Nuhu, reiterated Nigeria’s commitment to African unity, regional integration and multilateral diplomacy.
He said Nigeria remained at the forefront of efforts to promote peace, security and economic growth across Africa.
According to him, the visit created an avenue for both countries to exchange ideas on diplomacy, regional security and cross-border collaboration.
He highlighted Nigeria’s role within ECOWAS and other regional bodies, as well as its contributions to counter-terrorism efforts through the Multinational Joint Task Force.
The Commandant of the Burundi Senior Command and Staff College, who spoke on behalf of the delegation, thanked the Ministry for the reception and praised Nigeria’s leadership in regional affairs.
He said lessons from the visit would help strengthen international partnerships and improve the strategic capacity of participants.
The visit also featured a cultural exchange during which the Burundi delegation presented symbolic gifts representing their heritage and goodwill.
The Ministry said the engagement would further strengthen bilateral relations and deepen mutual understanding between Nigeria and Burundi.
