The Delta State Police Command has expressed deep concern over disturbing video footage emerging from Oramudu Quarters in Ozoro, in Isoko North Local Government Area, which allegedly shows acts of sexual assault and molestation of young women during a reported local event.
In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP. Bright Edafe, ANIPR, FCIA, FIPMD, the Command strongly condemned the incident, describing such acts as criminal, inhumane, and a serious violation of the fundamental rights and dignity of victims.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Aina Adesola, reportedly ordered an immediate and thorough investigation upon receipt of the viral videos.
As part of initial enforcement actions, the chief organiser of the event, identified as Chief Omorede Sunday, along with four other suspects, has been arrested in connection with the case.
The Police Commissioner has also directed that the matter be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for comprehensive investigation.
Tactical and intelligence teams have been mobilised to identify all persons involved and ensure their arrest and prosecution in accordance with the law.
The Command called on members of the public, especially victims and witnesses, to provide credible information that could assist the investigation, assuring that all information will be handled with strict confidentiality.
Residents across Delta State were urged to remain calm, vigilant, and law-abiding, as the Police reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding lives, protecting citizens’ rights, and maintaining public order.
The Command, headquartered in Asaba, reiterated its resolve to ensure that all individuals found culpable in the incident are brought to justice without delay.
