Tinubu Orders Manhunt After Jos Killings, Army Deploys Reinforcements

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed security agencies to track down those responsible for the recent deadly attacks in Jos, vowing that such violence will not recur.

During a condolence visit to affected communities, the president assured residents that the perpetrators of the Sunday night attack in Anguwan Rukuba, which claimed 28 lives, would be brought to justice. He expressed sympathy to victims, including Mrs. Rhoda Ayuba, who lost her son, stressing that no compensation could replace lost lives but promising government support and renewed efforts to restore peace.

Tinubu urged unity among leaders and communities, emphasizing that governance should focus on development rather than mourning victims of violence. He instructed security chiefs, including the police and military leadership, to intensify efforts to apprehend those behind the killings.

The president also announced plans to install over 5,000 CCTV cameras across the state to strengthen surveillance and prevent future attacks.

Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang commended the president’s visit, describing it as a strong show of support. He noted that the state had enjoyed relative peace before the incident and expressed optimism that ongoing security measures would curb further violence.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Army confirmed the deployment of 850 additional troops under Operation Enduring Peace to reinforce security operations and protect residents across the state.

Other stakeholders, including political leaders and traditional authorities, called for broader collaboration and dialogue to address the root causes of the recurring crisis and ensure lasting peace in Plateau State.
