Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, ADC National Chairman David Mark and former Transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi on Wednesday led a protest at the headquarters of Independent National Electoral Commission in Abuja.
The demonstration, tagged “Occupy INEC”, was organised by leaders of the African Democratic Congress, who accused the electoral body of acting in a partisan manner.
Among those who joined the protest were Peter Obi, Rauf Aregbesola, Rabiu Kwankwaso and Dino Melaye.
Ahead of the protest, Atiku said the action was a peaceful move to defend democracy and oppose what he described as the growing threat of dictatorship.
At the venue, protesters chanted “Ojoro” while displaying placards with inscriptions including “Tinubu, why are you afraid?”, “Judges must give justice” and “Tinubu, let democracy breathe.”
