President Nana Akufo-Addo, serving as head of the ECOWAS Election Observation Mission, on Sunday monitored voting activities during the presidential election in the Benin.
Akufo-Addo visited several polling units in Cotonou, including the Cadjehoun and Zongo districts, where he observed the early stages of the voting process and assessed the smooth commencement of operations.
He was accompanied by key ECOWAS officials, including Abdel-Fatau Musah, Amadou Diongue, Dimban Lene, and Edwin Melvin Snowe Jr..
Later in the day, the ECOWAS mission chief visited the organisation’s situation room in Cotonou to receive updates on the conduct of the election across other parts of the country, including various departments, cities and communities.
The visit forms part of ECOWAS’ efforts to monitor the credibility and transparency of the electoral process in Benin.
