The African Union Commission (AUC) and the Pan-African AU Agenda 2063 Diplomatic Mission have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening collaboration on peacebuilding, digital innovation and sustainable development across Africa.
This formed the focus of a strategic working visit by representatives of the African Union Commission from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to the Pan-African AU Agenda 2063 Diplomatic Mission in Abuja.
The meeting centred on strengthening institutional cooperation, particularly on the development of the Community Peace Monitoring (CPM) Application, a digital platform designed to support conflict prevention, early warning systems, community intelligence gathering and peacebuilding efforts across the continent.
Both parties noted that the initiative aligns with the African Union’s “Silencing the Guns in Africa” programme aimed at ending violent conflicts and promoting peace, security and sustainable development.
Speaking during the engagement, Global President of the Pan-African AU Agenda 2063 Diplomatic Mission, Ambassador Dr. Stephen Gbatigbi Ben-Joel, presented several projects being driven by the Mission to support the implementation of Agenda 2063.
Among the initiatives highlighted was the Pan-African Continental Super Marketplace (PAC-SM), a digital platform created to facilitate intra-African trade, connect businesses across borders and strengthen the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
The Mission also showcased its proposed Pan-African Tourism Application, aimed at promoting Africa’s cultural heritage, tourism destinations and investment opportunities while encouraging greater people-to-people exchanges across the continent.
Also presented was the Limestone Block Technology Initiative, designed to provide affordable and environmentally sustainable housing solutions while supporting local industrial development and job creation.
Discussions further covered the Mission’s Housing Development Programme and ongoing Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) projects, including community water schemes established to improve access to clean water in underserved communities.
Leader of the AUC delegation and Head of the Early Warning Continental Situation Room, Mrs. Orit Ibrahim, commended the Mission for its innovative approach to continental development, especially in the use of technology, community participation and partnerships to address challenges facing Africa.
Both organisations agreed to expand collaboration in areas including peacebuilding, digital transformation, infrastructure development, youth empowerment, environmental sustainability and economic integration.
They also reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the African Union’s Agenda 2063 vision of a peaceful, prosperous and integrated Africa driven by its citizens.
