The Federal High Court has granted bail conditions to activist and publisher, Omoyele Sowore, requiring him to present two sureties before his release.
Delivering the ruling on Tuesday, Justice Umar ordered that one of the sureties must be a traditional ruler from Sowore’s community, while the other must be an Abuja-based property owner with landed assets.
The judge further directed that the sureties must undergo verification by the prosecution before they can be accepted.
As part of the bail conditions, the court ordered Sowore to deposit his international passport with the Deputy Chief Registrar pending the determination of the case.
The court subsequently released Sowore to his lawyers and adjourned the matter to Monday, July 6, when he is expected to begin presenting his defence.
