Delta Police Arrest 10 Suspected Kidnappers, Cultists; Recover Arms, Vehicle

The Delta State Police Command has recorded major breakthroughs in its fight against kidnapping, armed robbery and cult-related crimes, with the arrest of 10 suspects and the recovery of arms, ammunition and a luxury vehicle.
Police said operatives of the Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cybercrime Squad, acting on credible intelligence, carried out a coordinated operation on January 20 along the Jedo/Ugboton–Warri axis. Five suspects, including alleged ringleaders Oke Jerry Ekokodjie and one Ibori, were arrested at a suspected criminal hideout linked to kidnapping and armed robbery across parts of Delta Central and North. Some gang members reportedly escaped through nearby creeks.
Items recovered include a locally fabricated Beretta-style pistol with three rounds of 9mm live ammunition, a black Mercedes-Benz GLK vehicle, a battle axe, illicit substances and a Point-of-Sale machine.
In a separate operation on January 22, police operatives from Obiaruku Division raided a suspected cultists’ hideout in Amai community, Ndokwa East Local Government Area, arresting five suspects. Recovered items include a locally made pistol, two battle axes and quantities of suspected hard drugs.
All suspects are currently in custody and under investigation, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend fleeing suspects. The Commissioner of Police, CP Aina Adesola, commended the operatives and reiterated the Command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing, urging residents to support the police with timely information.
