The President of the ECOWAS Commission, Dr. Omar Alieu Touray, on Tuesday paid a courtesy visit to the Chair of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government and President of Sierra Leone, Julius Maada Bio, at the State House in Freetown.
The visit was part of activities marking the ongoing ECOWAS Mid-Year Statutory Meetings hosted by the Government of Sierra Leone.
Touray was accompanied by the Vice-President of the ECOWAS Commission, Damtien L. Tchintchibidja, the ECOWAS Resident Representative in Sierra Leone, Ambassador John Azumah, and the Director of Cabinet in the Office of the President of the ECOWAS Commission, Abdou Kolley. Also present were Sierra Leone’s Chief Minister, David Moinina Sengeh, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Timothy Musa Kabba.
During the meeting, Touray briefed President Bio on preparations and progress made ahead of the ongoing statutory meetings.
He also expressed the Commission’s appreciation to the Government and people of Sierra Leone for hosting the meetings and providing a conducive environment for delegates.
Touray further commended President Bio for his leadership as Chair of the ECOWAS Authority, praising his commitment to advancing regional integration, peace, stability and sustainable development across West Africa.
