ECOWAS-REAP Support Mission Strengthens Electricity Access Project in Guinea-Bissau

The Economic Community of West African States Regional Electricity Access Project (ECOWAS-REAP) has carried out a support mission to Guinea-Bissau’s Project Implementation Unit (PIU) as part of efforts to ensure the successful completion of the regional electricity access initiative.

The mission, which took place from April 22 to 29, 2026, focused on resolving implementation challenges, finalizing resettlement procedures, and supporting the commissioning of completed medium-voltage power lines.

During the exercise, officials conducted field assessments and engaged with key stakeholders, including local authorities, project teams, and community representatives, to evaluate progress and address outstanding concerns affecting project delivery.

According to ECOWAS-REAP, the mission was aimed at strengthening coordination and accelerating efforts toward improving electricity access in Guinea-Bissau and across the West African region.
