Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Raids Alleged Cybercrime Training Centre in Abuja, Arrests 31nancial Crimes Commission has arrested 31 suspected internet fraudsters during a raid on an alleged cybercrime training centre in Becki Estate, Karu, in the Federal Capital Territory.
According to the commission, the suspects, including two alleged ringleaders and several trainees, were apprehended on Thursday while receiving lessons in internet fraud.
Items recovered during the operation included mobile phones, 18 laptop computers and other electronic gadgets.
Investigators said some of the trainees were brought from Benue State with promises of employment, only to be recruited into cybercrime activities.
The EFCC alleged that the organisers confiscated the recruits’ phones, restricted their movement within the premises and subjected them to physical punishment to enforce obedience.
The commission said the suspects would be charged to court after investigations are completed.
