The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has extended warm Eid-el-Fitr greetings to Muslim faithful across Nigeria following the successful completion of the Ramadan fast.
In a statement, the police chief commended Muslims for their devotion during the holy month and urged continued prayers for peace and national unity.
To ensure a safe and peaceful celebration, the Inspector-General directed Commissioners of Police and Tactical Commanders across all states and the Federal Capital Territory to implement comprehensive security measures during the festive period.
According to the directive, the operational strategy includes the deployment of tactical teams, intelligence operatives, the Special Intervention Squad, and conventional police personnel to Eid prayer grounds and critical infrastructure nationwide. Security presence is also being reinforced at highways, motor parks, recreational centers, and other public places.
The IGP further ordered heightened visibility policing, coordinated patrols, enhanced surveillance, and intelligence-led stop-and-search operations to proactively prevent crime and ensure rapid response to potential threats.
He urged members of the public to remain vigilant, cooperate with security agencies, and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through designated emergency lines.
The statement was issued on behalf of the Force Public Relations Office at the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters in Abuja by Anthony Okon Placid, who wished Muslim faithful a peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
