The Federal Government has declared Tuesday, August 25, 2026, a public holiday to commemorate this year’s Eid ul Mawlid, marking the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
The announcement was contained in a statement by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Magdalene Ajani, who said the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government.
Tunji-Ojo urged Nigerians to use the occasion to reflect on the values of compassion, humility and service, while praying for peace and national unity.
The minister also called on citizens to celebrate responsibly and respect one another, assuring Nigerians that the Federal Government remains committed to protecting lives and property and sustaining peace across the country.
