The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has commissioned two newly built modern divisional police headquarters in Durumi and Galadimawa areas of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The IGP, who was represented at the commissioning ceremonies on Tuesday by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja, AIG Victor Olaiya, said the new facilities marked a major step towards improving policing infrastructure and enhancing operational effectiveness in the FCT.
Olaiya, speaking on behalf of the police chief, said the projects demonstrated the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to providing a better working environment for officers and improving service delivery to residents.
He noted that modern and well-equipped police facilities would strengthen emergency response, intelligence-driven operations, community policing initiatives, and public engagement.
According to him, the new divisional headquarters would serve as important platforms for effective crime prevention and protection of lives and property within the communities.
The IGP commended the Nigeria Police Force Property Development and Construction Company Limited, project developers Odernix Nigeria Limited and Anon Global Properties Nigeria Limited, alongside other partners, for their roles in delivering the projects.
He also appreciated the support of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, traditional institutions, community leaders, and residents of Durumi and Galadimawa for their cooperation in promoting security and peace.
Olaiya charged police personnel assigned to the new facilities to view the buildings as symbols of public confidence and trust, urging them to maintain professionalism, discipline, respect for human rights, and commitment to community-oriented policing.
He called on residents to continue supporting the police by providing credible information that could assist in preventing crime, stressing that security remained a collective responsibility.
The IGP reiterated the Force’s commitment to modernising police infrastructure, improving officers’ welfare, adopting technology-driven policing, and strengthening partnerships aimed at enhancing public safety nationwide.
The commissioning ceremonies were attended by senior police officers, government representatives, traditional rulers, community leaders, and other stakeholders who applauded the initiative.
