The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has flagged off a nationwide advocacy and sensitisation campaign by the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), with activities scheduled to begin across police commands in the country.
The campaign is part of the Nigeria Police Force’s efforts to strengthen proactive policing, community engagement, and preventive measures against cultism and other social vices through grassroots awareness, early intervention, and collaboration with key stakeholders.
POCACOV, a flagship community policing initiative of the police force, seeks to discourage youths from engaging in cultism, drug abuse, violent crimes, and other harmful behaviours by promoting positive values and encouraging partnerships with schools, communities, religious organisations, and relevant groups.
The police said the initiative reflects its commitment to preventive policing strategies aimed at enhancing public safety, protecting young people from criminal influences, and building safer communities nationwide.
