IGP Disu Opens Strategic Leadership Retreat for Senior Police Officers


The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc (+), NPM, today officially inaugurated an Executive Leadership Retreat for Deputy Inspectors-General (DIGs) and Assistant Inspectors-General (AIGs) of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

In a statement issued by DCP Anthony Okon Placid which stated that the two-day retreat, hosted at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja by the Police Reform Secretariat in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), aims to drive sustainable institutional reform and enhance leadership capacity.


Professor Olu Ogunsakin, Head of the Police Reform Secretariat and Director-General of the National Institute for Policy Studies (NIPS), highlighted achievements under the UNDP- and German Federal Foreign Office-backed Supporting Police Accountability and Transformation (SPAT) program, including a revised national recruit curriculum—the first since 1968—and the newly gazetted Nigeria Police Regulations 2025.


IGP Disu stressed that the retreat underscores leadership defined by vision, accountability, and public trust. He noted that the success of the initiative would be measured by improvements in operational efficiency, discipline, and human rights compliance across the Force.


The retreat features sessions on evidence-based budgeting, community policing, and digital transformation, reflecting the NPF’s commitment to people-oriented, transparent policing.
