IGP Receives POWA President, Commends Welfare Initiatives

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, on Tuesday received the President of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), Olufumilola Mutiat Disu, alongside her delegation during a courtesy visit to the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

Speaking during the visit, the IGP described the engagement as a strong show of solidarity, praising POWA for its significant contributions to the welfare of police families. He highlighted the association’s efforts in supporting officers’ households, nurturing their children, and promoting stable home environments amid the demands of policing.

The visit also spotlighted POWA’s ongoing repositioning agenda, including plans to roll out a nationwide free eye care programme, expand welfare initiatives, and strengthen interventions in mental and emotional support, economic empowerment, youth development, and national unity.

The IGP further urged members to deepen collaboration in order to reinforce welfare structures and improve the overall well-being of police personnel and their families.
