The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, on Thursday paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, to strengthen collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force and the Judiciary on criminal justice reform.
During the meeting, Disu praised the Judiciary’s role in upholding judicial integrity, constitutional governance and the rule of law, describing the Police and the Judiciary as critical partners in the nation’s criminal justice system.
He stressed the need for deeper cooperation to improve the quality of criminal investigations, enhance prosecution support and ensure the speedy dispensation of justice. The IGP also highlighted the importance of fully implementing the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) and corresponding state laws to reduce delays in criminal proceedings.
Disu further outlined the Police Force’s investments in forensic science, intelligence-led policing, digital investigation tools and other modern policing initiatives, noting that stronger collaboration with the Judiciary in technology adoption and capacity-building would enhance justice delivery.
He reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to working with the Judiciary and other stakeholders to strengthen the rule of law, improve public confidence in the justice system and promote a safer and more secure society.
