IGP Visits Maiduguri Blast Victims, Assesses Security Measures


The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has visited victims of the recent improvised explosive device (IED) attacks receiving treatment at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital in Maiduguri.


During the visit, the police chief also conducted an on-the-spot assessment at the Maiduguri Monday Market bombing site to evaluate the situation firsthand.


As part of his engagements, the IGP proceeded to the Borno State Government House and the State Police Command Headquarters, where he reviewed existing security strategies and ongoing response efforts.


He expressed sympathy to victims and families affected by the attacks, while reassuring residents of the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to apprehending those behind the incidents and preventing a recurrence.


The IGP further noted that security has been reinforced across Maiduguri and surrounding areas, with increased personnel deployment, heightened surveillance, and strengthened joint operations aimed at safeguarding lives and property.
