The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reiterated that the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise will officially end on Sunday, July 26, urging all eligible Nigerians to register or update their voter information before the deadline.
In a statement posted on its official X handle on Sunday, the commission described voter registration as a critical requirement for participation in the 2027 general elections, stressing that there would be no further extension.
INEC encouraged eligible citizens who are yet to register to complete the process through its online CVR portal or visit any of its state and local government offices before the close of registration.
The commission noted that the exercise also covers requests for voter transfers, correction of personal details and replacement of lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
According to INEC, the nationwide CVR exercise began with online pre-registration in August 2025, followed by physical registration later that month. The electoral body recorded over 2.5 million completed registrations during the first phase, while the second phase added more than 3.7 million registrations.
Following the commencement of the third phase in May, INEC extended the exercise by two weeks in July to enable more eligible Nigerians to participate.
As the exercise comes to an end, the commission urged prospective voters to take advantage of the final opportunity, emphasizing that registration is essential for citizens who intend to vote in the 2027 general elections.
