International Investors Summit Targets $100bn Investment Commitments Across Key Sectors

The organisers of the International Investors Summit Nigeria 2026 have set a target of mobilising more than $100 billion in investment opportunities and commitments across strategic sectors of the Nigerian and African economies.

The summit, scheduled for November 10 and 11, 2026, in Abuja, is expected to bring together international investors, government representatives, businesses and owners of investment-ready projects from different parts of the world.

President of the Business Summit Group, Dato’ Dr. M. Haider Uzzaman, disclosed this while outlining the objectives of the summit, stressing that the event would focus on facilitating actual business connections and investment deals rather than merely providing a platform for speeches.

He said the priority sectors include oil and gas, renewable energy, technology, artificial intelligence, fintech, healthcare, agriculture and agro-processing, mining, infrastructure, education and human resources development.

Uzzaman said the organisers had, since 2016, worked with businesses and governments across different countries to facilitate access to international markets and investors.

He urged Nigerian companies, state governments and investment promotion agencies to prepare credible and well-structured projects, backed by feasibility studies, financial projections, proper documentation and clear implementation plans.

He said investors were expected from North and South America, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and other regions, with potential participants from countries including the United States, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Germany, Turkey, India, Singapore, China, Japan and Australia.

The organisers also disclosed that several high-level international personalities had shown interest in the summit, including Liberia’s President, Joseph Boakai, and President Vit Jedlička of the Free Republic of Liberland.

The summit is expected to facilitate investment deals, partnerships, financing, technology transfer, business expansion and job creation.

Meanwhile, Plateau State has expressed its readiness to attract private investment as part of efforts to accelerate economic growth and expand the market for its agricultural products.

Representing the Plateau State Government, Architect Molkat Manasseh Mutfon said the state’s participation in the previous business summit in Bangkok had begun yielding results, with agreements being reached with investors and work commencing on a proposed dry port.

He also disclosed plans to establish Plateau Air, an airline with a strong focus on cargo transportation, to address post-harvest losses and improve the evacuation of agricultural produce from the state to local and international markets.

Mutfon explained that Plateau produces significant quantities of agricultural products but loses revenue because of difficulties in transporting fresh produce to markets.

According to him, dedicated cargo aircraft would help farmers move their products more efficiently, reduce post-harvest losses, increase profitability and strengthen the state’s economy.

He urged project owners seeking investment to prepare detailed feasibility studies and demonstrate the viability of their proposals, stressing that investors were primarily interested in projects with clear investment requirements and realistic returns.

Also speaking, Vice President of the Business Summit, Owoicho Innocent Obandi, said the initiative was designed to connect international investors directly with credible businesses and government-backed projects requiring substantial funding.

Obandi said the summit would prioritise investment-ready projects, particularly those requiring a minimum investment of $10 million, rather than mere business ideas.

He said investors had expressed interest in sectors including oil and gas, agriculture, housing, renewable energy and artificial intelligence, with investment opportunities estimated at about $100 billion across various sectors.

He urged state governments seeking investors to identify specific sectors and projects that were ready for investment and create an enabling environment by addressing bureaucratic, infrastructural and other obstacles that could discourage investors.

Using housing as an example, Obandi said a project presented to investors should have secured land, development plans, access roads and other necessary infrastructure already addressed, enabling investors to determine the required capital and expected returns.

He said the summit would provide a platform for investors and project owners to meet, negotiate and potentially conclude investment agreements.

Obandi encouraged prospective businesses and governments to register for the summit, noting that the screening process would help ensure that only credible and investment-ready projects were presented to international investors.

He said the initiative represented a collective effort by the private sector and governments to attract investment, create jobs and contribute to building a stronger Nigerian economy.
