The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has assured the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of strengthened security collaboration to safeguard Nigeria’s electoral process.
Speaking on the role of the Air Force in election security, the Air Chief highlighted the importance of aerial surveillance in supporting early detection of potential disturbances and improving coordination among agencies responsible for protecting the polls.
He noted that the deployment of aerial monitoring would enable security forces to respond swiftly to emerging threats and maintain stability during electoral activities.
The Air Chief also stressed the need for comprehensive planning and simulation exercises ahead of major operations, explaining that rehearsals and preparatory drills help identify possible challenges and ensure smoother execution during elections.
He further assured the Commission that the Nigerian Air Force would continue working closely with other security agencies to secure key electoral infrastructure, including INEC offices, collation centres, and logistics hubs nationwide.
Both the Air Force and the electoral body expressed confidence that stronger collaboration between security institutions and electoral authorities would play a crucial role in ensuring credible, peaceful and transparent elections in Nigeria.
