NDLEA Raid: Marwa Mourns Officer, Six Suspects Arrested in Bonny Island

The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), has mourned an officer who died following a violent raid on a drug enclave in Bonny Island, Rivers State.
NDLEA operatives had stormed a notorious drug hub known as Ama Hausa, where six suspects were arrested and various illicit drugs, including cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, skunk and tramadol, were recovered.
During the operation, Chief Narcotic Agent Sadiq Bako Mujahid sustained severe head injuries after the suspected gang leader, Genesis George Benson, allegedly mobilised armed hoodlums to attack the officers in an attempt to escape arrest. Mujahid later died at the Bonny Island General Hospital where he was taken for treatment.
Despite the attack, the operatives arrested all six targets of the raid, including Benson. Others apprehended are ThankGod Okon, Shamsudden Isah, Muhammed Musa, Adamu Muhammed and Muhammed Yusuf.
Reacting to the incident, Marwa commended the officers for their bravery and resilience, noting that they were not deterred by the assault and ensured the suspects were arrested and the drugs seized.
He described the late Mujahid as a disciplined and courageous officer who paid the ultimate price in the line of duty, and extended condolences to his family, colleagues and the Rivers State Command.
Marwa also warned that attacks on NDLEA personnel would not go unpunished, stressing the agency’s commitment to eliminating illicit drugs from the country.
