NiDCOM Applauds Nigerian Center’s U.S. Justice Department Accreditation, Celebrates Diaspora Achievements

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has commended the Nigerian Center in the United States for its recent accreditation by the U.S. Department of Justice under the Executive Office for Immigration Review Recognition and Accreditation Programme.
Chairman and CEO of NiDCOM, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, described the milestone as a testament to the Center’s professionalism, credibility, and steadfast commitment to supporting immigrant communities, particularly Nigerians and other Africans living in the U.S.
In a statement released on February 18, Dabiri-Erewa said the accreditation enhances the Center’s capacity to provide immigration legal services, including guidance and representation for immigrants from low-income and underserved backgrounds. She noted that the recognition marks a proud moment for Nigerian-led diaspora organisations and highlights the global impact of Nigerians.
“This accreditation reflects the Nigerian Center’s dedication to serving immigrant communities and underscores the significant contributions Nigerians continue to make internationally,” she said.
The NiDCOM boss emphasized that access to culturally responsive and reliable legal support is vital for immigrants navigating complex immigration processes. She added that the recognition further strengthens the Center’s role as a trusted resource while reinforcing the relevance and influence of diaspora institutions built on service, professionalism, and community engagement.
Dabiri-Erewa also commended Gbenga Ogunjimi, Head of the Nigerian Center, and his team for their dedication, urging them to maintain the high standards that earned the recognition and continue making meaningful contributions to the diaspora community.
She reiterated NiDCOM’s commitment to supporting diaspora organisations that positively project Nigeria abroad, noting that such achievements enhance the country’s global reputation and diaspora engagement efforts.
