The Federal Government of Nigeria has congratulated the Government and people of Senegal on the occasion of the country’s Independence Anniversary.
In a statement issued on Saturday by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, Nigeria described Senegal’s Independence Anniversary as a historic milestone that reflects the country’s commitment to self-determination, democratic governance, stability and national development.
The statement noted that Senegal has continued to distinguish itself as one of Africa’s most politically stable nations, earning recognition for its democratic maturity and constructive role on the continent.
Nigeria also commended Senegal for its contributions to peace, democratic consolidation and economic cooperation in West Africa, particularly through its participation in Economic Community of West African States, African Union and the United Nations.
According to the Ministry, relations between Nigeria and Senegal have continued to grow through cooperation in trade, culture, education and security.
The Federal Government further reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Senegal, expanding areas of cooperation and deepening people-to-people ties in pursuit of shared prosperity and progress across the African continent.
Nigeria also extended its best wishes to the people and government of Senegal for continued peace, unity and development.
