The Federal Government of Nigeria has expressed deep sympathy and solidarity with the Kingdom of Morocco following the devastating floods that have struck the country’s northern regions, resulting in loss of lives, displacement of families, and widespread destruction of homes and infrastructure.
In a statement issued on Friday by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by Spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, noted that Nigeria said it was saddened by the scale of human suffering and material losses caused by the disaster, noting that it stands firmly with Morocco during the difficult period.
The government acknowledged the emotional and economic toll on affected communities and the national burden of emergency response, rehabilitation, and long-term reconstruction.
Nigeria also commended Moroccan authorities, emergency services, and humanitarian agencies for their swift and coordinated rescue operations, provision of emergency shelter, medical care, and relief materials to victims.
It expressed confidence that with sustained national efforts and international support, the affected regions would recover and rebuild stronger systems to manage future climate-related disasters.
The Federal Government extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and sympathies to all those affected, while offering prayers for the safety and well-being of the Moroccan people and the speedy restoration of normalcy in the impacted areas.
