Nigeria to Host 8th Nigeria–EU Ministerial Dialogue in Abuja


The Federal Government has announced that the 8th Nigeria–European Union (EU) Ministerial Dialogue will be held on Monday, March 23, 2026, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tafawa Balewa House, Abuja.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Nigerian delegation will be led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, while the European Union delegation will be headed by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, Kaja Kallas.
Kaja Kallas is expected to arrive in Abuja on Sunday, March 22, 2026, ahead of the high-level engagement. During her visit, she will hold a bilateral meeting with Yusuf Maitama Tuggar to review existing relations between Nigeria and the European Union and explore avenues for strengthening cooperation across key sectors.
As part of her official engagements, the EU High Representative will also pay a courtesy visit to the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Kashim Shettima, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
A joint press briefing is scheduled to hold after the ministerial dialogue, where both parties will brief the media on the outcomes of the meeting and outline areas of enhanced collaboration.
The dialogue is expected to focus on trade and investment, security cooperation, governance, migration, climate action, and sustainable development. It is also aimed at deepening the longstanding partnership between Nigeria and the European Union, anchored on mutual respect, shared values, and multilateral cooperation.
