NIMC Says Ward-Level NIN Enrolment Drive Progressing Nationwide

The National Identity Management Commission (National Identity Management Commission) has announced that its ongoing ward-level National Identification Number (NIN) enrolment campaign is progressing steadily across the country.

The Commission said the exercise, which began on February 16, 2026, was introduced to bring registration centres closer to communities and enhance access to identity enrolment services nationwide.

In a statement issued on March 3, 2026, and signed by its Head of Corporate Communications, Kayode Adegoke, NIMC reaffirmed that the NIN remains a key requirement for accessing essential government services in Nigeria. It encouraged citizens and legal residents who are yet to register to take advantage of the decentralised ward-based centres.

The Commission advised applicants to visit its official website to locate the nearest enrolment centre, cooperate with registration officials, provide accurate information during the process, and rely only on verified communication channels for updates.
For official information, NIMC directed the public to its website, www.nimc.gov.ng, the call centre (0800-061-6462), the pre-enrolment portal (penrol.nimc.gov.ng), and the data modification portal (selfservicemodification.nimc.gov.ng). It also encouraged applicants to download the NINAUTH app on iOS and Android devices to manage aspects of their digital identity.
NIMC said the ward-level initiative is part of broader efforts to achieve inclusive and comprehensive national identity coverage.
