Akiyesi, has passed away. He reportedly died in his sleep on Sunday, April 26, 2026, in Abuja.
The National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Abubakar Yakubu, confirmed the development on Monday, April 27. He disclosed that the actor’s remains have been deposited in a mortuary in Abuja, pending further information from his family.
Yakubu said Akiyesi “slept and did not wake up,” describing the incident as a sad loss to the industry.
A native of Akoko-Edo in Edo State, Akiyesi joined the Nigerian film industry in the late 1990s and built a career spanning over two decades. He featured in more than 100 productions and was widely regarded for his versatility in character roles.
Some of his notable works include Marry Who You Love, Heart of a Saint, Deadly Affair, and Pretty Liars.
