The Northern Youth Peace Ambassadors (NYPA) has honoured the Controller of Corrections, FCT Command, Christopher Peter Jen, with its Iconic Leadership Award and National Peace Ambassador title.
The recognition was presented on Monday, August 24, 2026, when the NYPA Executive Council paid a courtesy visit to the FCT Command Headquarters in Abuja.
The delegation, led by NYPA National President, Engineer Abdulmalik Usman, said the honour followed a resolution reached at the organisation’s Peace Summit held on August 1, 2026.
Usman described Jen as a symbol of peace, integrity and pragmatic leadership, citing his human-centred approach to correctional administration, controversy-free tenure and contributions to national development.
He said the award was also aimed at encouraging the Controller to sustain his commitment to service and greater productivity.
The NYPA President noted that the organisation, which represents youths across the 19 Northern states and the FCT, remains committed to recognising Nigerians who promote peace and national development under its motto, “Peace For All.”
Responding, Controller Jen thanked the organisation for the recognition and dedicated the award to inmates, whom he fondly refers to as his “precious children,” as well as the officers and personnel of the FCT Command.
He reaffirmed his commitment to the Nigerian Correctional Service’s mandate of reformation, rehabilitation and reintegration, stressing that youth participation in peacebuilding is essential to national security.
The event featured the presentation of the award plaque and Peace Ambassador sash to the Controller by the NYPA National President, followed by an exchange of souvenirs and group photographs.
