Plateau State Imposes 48-Hour Curfew in Jos North After Deadly Angwan Rukuba Attack

The Plateau State Government has imposed a 48-hour curfew on Jos North Local Government Area following a deadly attack in the Gari Ya Waye community of Angwan Rukuba on Sunday.
The curfew, which takes immediate effect from midnight on March 29, will remain in force until April 1, 2026.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the government said the decision was taken in collaboration with security agencies after the incident claimed several lives and left others with varying degrees of injuries.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang condemned the attack, describing it as barbaric and unprovoked, and assured residents that efforts were underway to track down those responsible.

The government urged residents to remain calm, stay vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information that could assist ongoing investigations.

The statement was signed by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Joyce Lohya Ramnap.
