The Nigeria Police Force says its operatives arrested 15 suspects, rescued 12 kidnapped victims, and recovered firearms, ammunition, vehicles, and other exhibits in coordinated operations across 11 states and the Federal Capital Territory within the last 24 hours.
According to the Force Daily Situation Report for July 13, 2026, two firearms, 60 rounds of ammunition, and two vehicles were recovered during the operations, while investigations into the various incidents are ongoing.
In Plateau State, security operatives responded to an attack by suspected bandits on Kum Village in Riyom Local Government Area, where nine persons were killed. Police evacuated an injured victim to the General Hospital in Riyom and deployed additional personnel to restore calm, while the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) commenced investigations.
In Zamfara State, police and other security agencies responded to an attack on Gadar Manya Village in Anka Local Government Area. A truck cabin set ablaze during the incident was extinguished with the support of residents, while the victim’s body was taken to Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital, Gusau.
A manhunt for the attackers has been launched.
Akwa Ibom police also began investigations into an armed robbery and murder at Ikom Village in Etinan Local Government Area, where the victim was confirmed dead on arrival at a hospital before the body was deposited in a mortuary.
In Niger State, police arrested one suspect in connection with a fatal land dispute in Agaie Local Government Area. In a separate operation in Mariga Local Government Area, tactical teams, working with local vigilantes, engaged armed bandits in a gun battle and rescued 11 kidnapped victims unharmed before reuniting them with their families.
Benue State police responded to an attack on Otukpo-Nobi Community in Otukpo Local Government Area, where eight people were killed and five others injured. Commissioner of Police Cletus Nwadiogbu led tactical teams to the area, restored order, reopened blocked roads, and reinforced security in surrounding communities.
In Oyo State, police arrested three suspects during separate operations. Officers recovered a locally fabricated pistol, a live cartridge, and suspected tramadol from a suspect arrested during a stop-and-search operation in Ibadan. The Anti-Kidnapping Squad also rescued a five-year-old abducted child and arrested two suspects who allegedly collected ₦1 million out of a ₦10 million ransom demand.
Edo State police arrested three suspects linked to the vandalism of telecommunications infrastructure and recovered a Toyota Yaris, 12 heavy-duty batteries, a cutlass, and a dagger. Investigators said the suspects were connected to an earlier case involving stolen equipment.
In Gombe State, police arrested two suspects after intercepting a vehicle conveying two suspected stolen cows. One of the suspects allegedly assaulted a police corporal during the arrest. Detectives also intensified efforts to apprehend suspects involved in a separate attempted murder case.
Bauchi State police, supported by local hunters and vigilantes, launched a search operation following the abduction of a resident in Kirfi Local Government Area.
In Kano State, police arrested a suspect allegedly posing as a military officer and recovered an AK-47 magazine loaded with 30 rounds of ammunition, 29 additional rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, military uniforms, boots, and suspected fake military identification documents. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend two fleeing accomplices.
In the Federal Capital Territory, police arrested one suspect in Gwagwalada and recovered a locally fabricated firearm, while investigations continue to determine its source and possible criminal use.
Meanwhile, in Ogun State, police arrested four suspects in separate cases involving alleged defilement, impersonation, and assault. Among those arrested was a serving military personnel accused of providing military uniforms used in the commission of the offences.
Overall, the police said the operations recorded 15 arrests, the rescue of 12 kidnapped victims, the recovery of two firearms, 60 rounds of ammunition, and two vehicles, while investigations continue across the affected states.
