The Nigeria Police Force has announced the arrest of two suspected members of a notorious kidnapping syndicate allegedly responsible for a series of abductions, killings, and violent attacks along the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)-Nasarawa border communities.
The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu, in a statement on Tuesday, said operatives of the Force Intelligence Department–Special Tactical Squad (FID-STS) carried out intelligence-led operations between June 24 and 26, 2026, leading to the arrest of the suspects in Gbagalape in the FCT, Mararaba in Nasarawa State, and Abuja.
The suspects were identified as Buhari Adamu, 25, and Abubakar Saidu, 28, who are alleged to have participated in several kidnapping operations, attacks, and murders within the FCT-Nasarawa axis.
According to the police, investigations linked the syndicate to the May 16, 2026 attack on Gbagalape community, a border settlement between the FCT and Nasarawa State, where several residents were abducted while others were killed or injured by gunshots.
The police said some victims were allegedly murdered after ransom demands were made.
Following the arrests, operatives raided the gang’s hideout at Gbagalape Hills, where they recovered one AK-47 rifle, 22 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, 14 cows, and three sheep suspected to be proceeds of criminal activities.
The suspects are said to have provided useful information to investigators, while efforts are ongoing to arrest other fleeing members of the syndicate.
The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, praised the FID-STS operatives for what he described as professionalism and commitment, assuring that the force would continue to intensify intelligence-driven operations against violent criminal networks nationwide.
He also urged members of the public to support security agencies by providing timely and credible information to aid crime prevention and detection.
