The Police Service Commission (PSC) has strongly condemned the alleged extrajudicial killing of 28-year-old Mene Ogidi by police officers attached to the Effurun Area Command in Delta State.
The incident, which occurred on April 26, 2026, was described by the Commission as a violation of Nigerian laws and international humanitarian standards. The PSC cited breaches of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), the Anti-Torture Act 2017, the Administration of Criminal Justice Act 2015, the Nigeria Police Act 2020, and the Nigeria Police Force Regulations 2025.
The Commission, however, commended the Delta State Commissioner of Police for initiating disciplinary measures against the officers involved, including their suspension and interdiction pending the outcome of investigations.
While extending condolences to the family of the deceased, the PSC urged members of the public to remain calm, assuring that justice would be served.
