The Chairman of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), Dr. Mohammed Bello Shehu, has been honoured with the 2026 African Business Leadership Award for Fiscal Governance and Revenue Accountability in recognition of his contributions to fiscal governance reforms and public finance management in Nigeria.
The award was presented at the 16th African Leadership Magazine Africa Summit held in London, where Dr. Shehu was recognised for promoting transparency, accountability and institutional reforms in revenue mobilisation and fiscal governance.
According to a statement issued by the Commission on Saturday, Dr. Shehu has spearheaded initiatives aimed at strengthening fiscal transparency, improving revenue accountability and reinforcing RMAFC’s constitutional mandate of ensuring equity in Nigeria’s revenue allocation system.
The Commission said the recognition reflects growing continental appreciation for his efforts to strengthen public finance institutions and align Nigeria’s fiscal management with global best practices.
RMAFC added that the award underscores Dr. Shehu’s commitment to institutional excellence and expressed confidence that the honour would further inspire ongoing reforms to enhance transparency, public confidence and sustainable national development.
