Tinubu’s Türkiye visit signals resolve to tackle insecurity

The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa, says President Bola Tinubu’s recent engagement with Turkish authorities highlights his administration’s determination to address Nigeria’s security challenges.
Musa noted that Tinubu’s visit to Türkiye, which resulted in the signing of nine Memoranda of Understanding, including a defence agreement, reflects the President’s commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s defence capabilities, deepening international cooperation, and fast-tracking defence modernisation in response to emerging security threats.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Director of Information and Public Relations of the Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said the engagements provided an opportunity to review existing procurement arrangements. He added that discussions focused on improving procurement efficiency, enhancing maintenance and sustainment support, expanding training opportunities, promoting research and development, and boosting indigenous capacity building within the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
