U.S. President Donald Trump said late Sunday that American forces have sunk nine Iranian naval vessels as part of the ongoing joint U.S.-Israeli military campaign targeting Iran’s military assets.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated that the ships destroyed included several he described as “relatively large and important,” adding that further strikes were underway. He also claimed that Iranian naval headquarters had been largely destroyed in a separate attack.
The development comes on the third day of Operation Epic Fury, a major offensive launched on Saturday that has reportedly led to the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, along with several senior commanders, and extensive damage to Iranian command, missile, and air defense systems.
The latest claims suggest intensified maritime engagements, with U.S. naval forces asserting dominance in strategic waterways, including the Persian Gulf and Strait of Hormuz.
