The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has published the names and photographs of 124 Nigerian nationals identified for deportation as part of an intensified immigration enforcement campaign targeting individuals convicted of serious criminal offences.
In a statement posted on its official website on Wednesday, July 8, the DHS said the affected Nigerians were included on what it described as its “worst-of-the-worst” criminal register. The agency said the publication of their identities and photographs was intended to demonstrate ongoing enforcement efforts.
The department, however, did not disclose when the deportations would take place or provide a detailed breakdown of the offences committed by each individual.
