Veteran Nigerian actor, Olu Jacobs, has died at the age of 84.
The renowned actor, whose real name was Oludotun Baiyewu Jacobs, died on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.
His death was announced by his family, with his son, Olusoji Jacobs, confirming the development.
Olu Jacobs was one of Nigeria’s most respected actors, with a career spanning several decades in theatre, television and film.
He featured in numerous Nigerian and international productions and was widely recognised for his contribution to the growth of the Nigerian film industry.
The actor was also a recipient of the Member of the Order of the Federal Republic, MFR, national honour.
Olu Jacobs was married to veteran actress Joke Silva, and together they co-founded the Lufodo Group, a major theatre and film production company.
The family has appealed to the public, bloggers and social media influencers to respect its privacy as it mourns the late actor.
Olu Jacobs is survived by his wife, children and other family members.
